In an interview with Pearl FM, Dr. Yasmin Kottait says:
“When you take a child to an adult dentist office, they are not learning that much. That’s because we are not giving them the new ideas and the way they can learn it.
We are just putting them on the chair and opening their mouths and we are working. That’s it. But at the end of the day, anything can trigger their fear and their anxiety, and then they reach a point where they don’t want to open their mouth at all.
And because I am a child dentist, I only see the children who have been to 5 other general dentists before me. And now they stop and refuse to open their mouth whatsoever. And then because I took it bit by bit and paced the child and I understood their needs and language, we built trust, and after 5 or 6 sessions, all their teeth are healthy and clean. I am their friend, not only their dentist.”
