Dr. Medhat Abu-Shaaban, medical director and pediatrician at myPediaclinic (Voted best pediatric clinic in Dubai) discusses the influenza vaccine and the misconceptions people have about it.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, it’s important to know that the influenza vaccine does not cause autism.
Previously the vaccine could not be administered to children with egg allergy. However, it is now possible.
The vaccine is a killed virus and not live attenuated vaccine. Hence, it cannot cause the influenza disease itself.
All it does is that it prepares the immune system of the child to fight any future infection with the virus and produce antibodies against it.
